The Solarchopper is an eco-friendly and comfortable electric bike with regenerative energies. It also increases the period of use, as the solarroof has a protection function against the sun and rain.

My idea is a Solarchopper, an e-bike which uses solar power for driving.
The special feature of this bike is the solarroof. This solarroof not only produces electricity for charging the battery but also protects the driver from the sun and rain. The goal is a zero energy bike, which you do not have to load anymore, but is self sufficient. This has also worked this summer, for the autumn and winter still the solar power has to be increased, I hope on more efficient solar modules. For the realization of the roof, no standard modules were used, but flexible, light and break-proof modules, which can also be bent and which can not break at every fall.
In addition to the charging of the battery during the journey, and particularly during the breaks, other devices with solar energy can also be charged to various 12V and 5V USB.
Currently, the maximum output of the solarroof is 46 Wp, new modules will increase this output to 80 Wp for the same roof area.

very interesting concept. thanks for posting, I wonder about the aerodynamics?

will the head wind make it harder for people / the motor to drive?

No, the wind is not a problem, the modules are very thin (2 mm) and light.
It is very musical when the pipes begin to whistle at the wind.
More problematic are the pauses, because it can fall in strong wind. I am currently building a folding roof so that it can be folded during breaks.
