Getting to know home

  • The awareness of beautiful places around someone's hometown is not always great. In a first step, the awareness of local residents should be raised. This could be done with the help of the local tourism office or even the national tourism office. I suggest that a brochure and a advertisment campaign could be started that focuses solely on local places (starting with bigger cities) and their attractions. To do this, a competition in which residents are asked to describe their favourite places around home is a good idea (done by Tourism Australia). This descriptions could be used for the brochures, maybe even with the person who made the contribution on the ad or on youtube (authenticity). Transport, accommodation (if applicable) and other tourism activities are supposed to be as environmentally friendly and local as possible.

    Great idea Dreiser66 ;-) It would be cool if some kind of App could be created where people could post their favorite local spots to create more awareness. They could post pictures/videos and write short comments about what makes the destination so special.
