The Idea of Christmas is not something material but a moment of happiness to share with as much people as possible. Everyone should be on the same level and have the same chance to celebrate with people they love.

The Idea of Christmas is not something material but a moment of happiness to share with as much people as possible.
Everyone should be on the same level and have the same chance to celebrate with people they love.

Creating a service where homeless and lonely people leave their lives behind them for one night, to celebrate in a friendly surrounding.

Families have the ability to sign up for welcoming people in needs. The Family offers a cosy place in their house including a nice Christmas meal to get in contact with another person. The goal is to keep contact to the person and create a relation ship to make both sides willing to do it again. Every Year they can add another person to their Christmas meal, so there will be a big community.

Hi Lorie and Christian, I like your idea pretty much, it is a realistic opportunity for many people ::) I think it is a question of making contacts with individuals in our respective communities, though sometimes it might need also some courage to do so..:) But making a start and likewise telling others about it - this will cause a snowball effect, so is my experience. My family uses to invite people for Christmas Eve almost each year. It started some years ago with a student from China. She was the first foreign student, studying environment engineering in our town. By accident, my father got in touch with her. After coordinating getting her a bike - the only thing she said she was missing in the new country Germany - he invited her for Christmas Eve to our house. The following year we invited her again, together with two other Chinese students, remembering that it was such a good experience the year before. This year we invited three refugees who from Syria and Eritrea, who arrived this summer in our town. My father got quite active in communal integration activities there, so he got into contact with them. Special this year for us: a couple, friends of my parents, asked for joining us - they wish to make a personal contact with refugees in order to get involved. In consequence, they decided to make a first step by joining the get-together on Christmas Eve in my parents house. I will speak to friends, spreading your idea in my surrounding ::) Best wishes for a beautiful Christmas! Constantina
