Awareness Raising towards clean biomass burning

Transmit information through networks of trained professionals (appliance and fuel salesmen, installers, chimney sweeps, and architects): professionals in the sector represent a privileged contact with users. They are a means of correctly disseminating the right information.

-    Train the media for a better transcription of information: journalists are not specialists on the subject. In order to be able to transcribe the information relayed, it is necessary to train them on the issue.

-    Sensitize the public authorities and integrate them in the discourse: the proposed actions can only be implemented if there is willingness on the part of the public authorities. Elected officials must take ownership of the issue in order to move it forward. Elected representatives as representatives of the citizens must set an example and have a discourse that is not contradictory.

-    Develop communication tools from professionals to users: to simplify communication, supports could be shared by all professionals in order to disseminate them to users.

-    Use of multiple means of communication: improvisational theatre, humorous films, broadcasting of advertising films before cinema screenings, broadcasting in communal magazines and DIY magazines.

-    Scientific mediation to restore confidence in published studies: scientific studies are sometimes discredited simply because they have been commissioned by the public authorities. The scientist must present these results directly to the public. The use of communicators may also be necessary to popularize the findings.

-    Deploy experiments based on micro-sensors: experimentation allows the appropriation of the information observed. The deployment of micro-sensors enables citizens to become aware of and verify the information disseminated by themselves. Sensors are not enough; they are an opportunity to provide support in the discovery of the subject.

-    Remind the need for wood in the energy transition: wood is a renewable energy that is indispensable in the desire for energy transition. It is not possible to reach the objectives set without wood on the share of green energy. Faced with the impact on air quality, we must always remember the need to reduce carbon energies.

-    Pass through a regulatory ban to start the dialogue: a ban even without any means of control allows the message to be passed on. This opens the discussion on the reasons for the ban.

-    Use of social sciences to conduct intensive communication campaigns and collect data to understand the drivers of the brakes on change: the scientific data is available; we must now use the social sciences to enable the dissemination and acceptance of this data. Time frame: 2 to 3 years. Budget: Several thousand euros for a study.
